MALICO: The Summer Capital of Pangasinan

 

    Are you looking for a place where invites you to a calm spirit through its natural, picturesque and scenic view? Malico, San Nicolas, Pangasinan is the right place for you. The beautiful place is located at the peak of mountainous parts between Nueva Vizcaya and Pangasinan provinces. Its exact location is in San Nicolas, Pangasinan.

    Malico can be reached by all kinds of light vehicles, motorcycles, and even bicycles. The distance from the town of San Nicolas, Pangasinan to the so called summer capital of Pangasinan, the Malico, is about 19 kilometers. 

    A traveler can have a scenic drive with the 19 kilometer along the Pangasinan-Nueva Vizcaya Road or commonly known as ‘Villa Verde Trail’.

    Along the middle part of 19 kilometers going up to Malico, a traveler can view the major parts of Pangasinan and Tarlac provinces.

    Going up to the village of Malico proper, a traveler may be captivated by the picturesque view that surrounds on the ‘Villa Verde Trail’. This mountainous destination is surrounded by greenly and bluish mountains with fire trees (locally known as Saleng) and various century trees. There are also springs of cold water flowing from high mountains that can be seen besides the road at 5 kilometers before the Malico village proper.

    Malico village is majority resided by friendly Igorots that claim Malico as their ancestral domain. It is visited by many tourist because of its small community that is rich in cultural heritage and its cold temperature as it sits aproximately1.300 feet above sea level. The temperature with in the village reportedly does not exceed above 20°C.
